Our products are made of fiber reinforced plaster. with plaster using the same material as for cornice, it is possible to seamlessly point up joints and gaps without the need of separate connecting blocks.

Using our plain runs in combination with ornaments you can design unique fireplace mantels, window frames and more.

Installation instructions for cornice and crown moldings

  • Predrill and countersink holes for screws near top and wall parts; approximately one screw for every ft. of cornice/crown molding

  • Apply liquid nail glue on the back of crown molding near ceiling and wall edges, but not too close

  • Put crown molding up against the wall and drill the screws in. wipe off excess glue of the edges if necessary

Pointing up joints

  • Combine a small amount of plaster with water into a small cup so that it is about buttery substance (amount of plaster determines thickness)

  • Using a knife like tool, apply plaster to the joints of crown molding.

  • Using a wet brush (kept in a water bottle) brush excess plaster off to the side and onto the brush which you then rinse in a water bottle

  • The seem is gone !

painting

Plaster products can be easily painted. there are three basic methods to paint crown moldings:

1. spray paint (easiest) usually one color.

2. ornamental cornice can be painted in different colors using a brush.

3. a more unique method which makes cornice look aged/antique. this is only for ornamental cornice. basically you spray water based paint on ornaments and immediately wipe off the paint with a cloth. what happens is the deeper parts of cornice don't get wiped off, giving it contrast.
